Гель или наращивание? Решаем по структуре ногтя

Это не одно и то же и на одном ногте работает по-разному.

Two terms that get mixed up: a gel overlay applies a hardening layer over the natural nail; extensions add length. What decides between them is less what you want and more what your nail can carry.

Who suits a gel overlay?

Anyone whose natural nails can grow but break easily. Gel acts like a shield: it stops breakage while the nail grows so you can reach your own natural length. If you're happy with your nail bed and just want durability, this is the right choice.

Gel is also thinner and lighter than an extension. You barely feel anything on your hands.

Who suits extensions?

Anyone whose nails never grow, who bites them, or who wants a specific length and shape. Because length is added, there's far more design freedom.

The durability difference

Applied properly, extensions are more durable than gel. That doesn't make them better: the thicker and harder the structure, the more tension at the transition point with the natural nail. On thin, soft nails a gel overlay sometimes outlasts an extension.

Infill interval

Three to four weeks for both. Gel infills are usually quicker.

Removal

The critical part. Neither gel nor extensions should be forced off; the product is softened first. Every nail lifted with leverage takes the top layer of the plate with it — the reason behind "gel ruined my nails" is almost always the removal, not the product.

Do you need to take a break?

Not necessarily. But two or three weeks with natural nails now and then is useful, so both you and we can see their true condition.

We also apply gel nails at your home.
