Nail extensions are the most requested treatment in any studio. Yet almost every guest who sits down at our table asks the same three questions. Let's take them one by one.
"Will they suit my hands?"
Whether they suit you usually has nothing to do with your nails and everything to do with the length and shape chosen. On a hand with a short nail bed, a very long, sharp almond makes the hand look shorter than it is. On the same hand, a soft oval or a short square lengthens the finger. When you sit down we look at your hands first: the length of your nail bed, the width of your fingertips, what you do all day. Someone at a keyboard and someone raising small children cannot wear the same length — both can look beautiful, but not at the same measurement.
"How long do they last?"
Infills are needed every three to four weeks. It depends on how fast your nails grow; they grow faster in summer and slow down in winter. Postponing the infill is tempting but unwise: the pressure point between the grown-out natural nail and the extension increases the risk of breakage. The nails of guests who come every three weeks are visibly stronger than those who come every six.
"Will they damage my natural nail?"
The honest answer: it depends on how the application and the removal are done. Damage does not come from the product but from two mistakes. The first is thinning the nail plate more than necessary. The second is forcing the removal. Done properly, the surface is only buffed enough to remove shine, and removal is done by softening the product — never by leverage.
One more thing: extensions do not have to stay on forever. A few weeks with natural nails now and then is useful — not because the nail needs to "breathe" (it doesn't, that's a myth) but because it lets us see the true condition of your nail.
Before your appointment
Don't apply heavy hand cream the day before; let us do the hand care at the appointment. Bring a reference image if you have one — "like this, but shorter" is far easier than describing it.
We also perform nail extensions at your home. Our specialist brings every material sealed and works at your own table.
