Guests who come to us for "pigmentation care" arrive with very different things on their skin. The first step that shapes the approach is identifying what the mark actually is.
Sun spots (lentigines)
On areas exposed to years of sun — cheekbones, the backs of hands, décolleté. Clear-edged and brown. They lighten noticeably with a course of care, exfoliation and consistent sun protection. This is the type that responds best.
Melasma
Usually symmetrical, broad and blurry-edged. It is hormonal, linked to pregnancy, contraceptives or thyroid function. It is highly sensitive to heat as well as light — not only sun, but warmth triggers it. With melasma the aim is control rather than clearance. Aggressive treatments usually rebound darker. So our course here is slow, gentle and paired with sun protection; dermatological support is often necessary.
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
The dark mark left after a spot, wound or irritation. It fades on its own, but the process can take months. Care shortens it. The key point: focusing on the mark without getting the underlying acne under control means a new mark with every new breakout.
When to see a doctor
Not care but dermatology when: the shape or colour of a mark changes, its borders are irregular, it bleeds or itches, or it grows quickly. That is not our field and we refer without hesitation.
Which season?
Autumn and winter. In the low-sun months treatment is both safer and more effective. Courses started in early summer usually give back what they gain.
One condition
Sunscreen. Every day, in winter too, on cloudy days too. Doing a pigmentation course without sun protection is like carrying water in a bucket with a hole. It sounds like a cliché, but it is exactly the biggest difference between guests who get results and guests who don't.
