Home beauty services are spreading fast in Istanbul. As they spread, the gap in standards widens too. Here is what we watch in our own practice, and what you should look for.
Hygiene: three non-negotiables
*Sealed packaging.* The set being used should be opened in front of you. Materials that arrive open, left over from a previous appointment, are not acceptable.
*Single-use really means single-use.* Files, spatulas, cotton, gloves. These are renewed at every appointment.
*Sterile tools.* Metal instruments arrive autoclaved in a sealed pouch. If the pouch is intact it is sterile; if it's torn, it isn't.
Who is coming
You should know in advance. With us, the specialist is named in the booking confirmation, and no change is made without asking you. You have a right to know who is at your door.
The setup: what we ask of you
A well-lit area (ideally near a window), a table and a socket. The specialist brings the rest: table cover, portable lamp, equipment, waste bag. When the treatment ends, the space is left exactly as it was.
Duration
A home appointment runs 15-20 minutes longer than in the studio because of setup and packing away. Plan your time accordingly.
Pricing
There may be an additional service fee for travel and setup. It should be stated clearly before the appointment. An extra charge you learn about at the door is not a good sign.
Who it works especially well for
New mothers, people with limited mobility, anyone with a demanding schedule, and two or three friends booking together. That last one is particularly enjoyable: the same specialist works back-to-back in the same home, which is efficient in both time and cost.
What cannot be done at home
Anything requiring a device: Hydrafacial, body contouring, device-assisted skin treatments. Those happen at our locations. Nails, brows, lashes, waxing and classic facials come to you.
