"Have a facial once a month" is as incomplete as it is true. Once a month is the general average of the skin's renewal cycle (about 28 days, lengthening with age). But your skin is not the average.
Oily and combination skin — every 3 to 4 weeks
Where sebum production is high, pores fill faster. When deep cleansing and comedone extraction are repeated every three to four weeks, blackhead build-up stays under control. Longer gaps make each session longer and less comfortable.
Dry skin — every 4 to 6 weeks
Here the issue is hydration and barrier support rather than cleansing. The skin needs time to repair itself; intervening too often can weaken the barrier. Between sessions, what you use at home matters more than what happens in the studio.
Sensitive skin — every 6 to 8 weeks, with gentle formulas
For skin prone to redness and reaction we reduce frequency and simplify the treatment. Exfoliating acids and mechanical steps are kept limited. The goal isn't to change the skin but to calm it.
Acne-prone skin — alongside medical treatment, every 2 to 4 weeks
Active acne is a dermatological matter; a facial doesn't replace treatment, it runs beside it. On this skin we don't touch inflamed lesions — only non-inflamed comedones are cleared and soothing steps applied.
Mature skin — every 3 to 4 weeks
The renewal cycle lengthens after the forties, so dead-cell build-up is more visible. More frequent but gentler sessions work better than rare, aggressive ones.
The seasonal factor
Autumn and winter are the best window for pigmentation and renewal treatments — with less sun they are both safer and more effective. In summer the focus shifts to hydration and pore cleansing.
How much of the result comes from the studio?
Honestly: about a quarter happens in the studio and three quarters at home. That's why every session ends with a personal home routine — no more than three products, something you'll actually do. Three steps you follow always beat a ten-step list you don't.
At your first appointment we analyse your skin and set the right frequency together.
